I recall during 80's riding in Rx100 was a great passion for all bike lovers. Yamaha name was become a house hold name in most of the house in India because of one only Rx100. All young boys loved that bike and its melodious sound. But later Yamaha was not able imprint the same passion with another model though the reputation of Yamaha was highest among bike lovers who admire the sexy style and performance of YAMAHA R1 and YAMAHA R6 yet another catchy name associated with Yamaha was the legendary Valentino Rossi.

This will really shake the concept of Indian two wheeler Market. Yamaha has really initiated the process months back with the launch of YAMAHA R1 in selected showrooms. I got the privilege to interact with the distributors of R1, the confidence levels are much above they expected but average Indian youth will not be able to spend Rs 10.5 lakhs for a bike so the benefit has not extended to majority.
YAMAHA YZF R 15 will fulfill this dream. Surely, this will be the first bike to set a bench mark in India. Company officials' have kept the specification as secret but different rumors are there, all are matching with one point that R15 will be 150 CC.

If this can be true about a 125 cc bike then much more will it be applicable for a model that set to challenge the biggest 2 wheeler market!
Some sources say that R15 will be exactly same as that of R125.... Then it will be fantastic!

Hi Batman, The price of YZF R1 will be 10,5 lakhs in india, I feel the price of R15 will be between 85 to 90k in india. If you r really fond of R1, get a used one from dubai at 2 lak and u can bring that too india with less tax.

dear Mr.Ron,there are various opinion about the launch date, though i tried to spoke to Ymaha officials tentative date has not discosed. BUt I suppose this may happen during June -July month.

Thanks for the comment, the exacy date of the launch is yet to reveal. we can just make som eguess work. I feel the vehicle will be in road by the mid of june or july.

Looks nice but the seat and silancer makes some bad imperssion and last but not lest, its only 150 cc, where u can buy 200 to 250 cc bikes at the same price at indian market.

THE SELF WAS NOT WORKING THIS INCIDENT WAS ON SATURDAY EVENING AT 8 :00 PM. SERVICE CENTRE WAS CLOSED ON SUNDAY . SO I COULDNT GOT MY BIKE REPAIR . I HAVE CONTACTED TO THE SERVICE CENTRE AND SHOW ROOM . BUT ALL ARE SAYING THAT WE CANT HELP U IN OFF TIME AND HOLIDAY , WE ARE NOT HELPLESS . i FIND MY RX 135 THE MOST RELIABLE WHICH GIVES 53 KM PER LTR. I THINK ALL YAMAHA LOVERS WOULD LIKE AN ADVANCED VERSION OF RX 135 WITH SELF STARTER! IT IS DIFFICULT IN 2 STROKES I KNOW.

When I was in Australia, I used to feel when these sports bikes are going to hit Indian roads. Will this happen? When we can have the top 4 wheeler models hitting Indian roads why cann't the trendy sports bikes be introduced to Indian roads. Thanks to Yamaha, R15 first of it's kind to be launched in India. This is just a begining for other Bike makers in India to think twice and be competitive to introduce sports bikes to Indian roads. This will be just the begening for a change what the young needs. Yamaha has carved a nitche for itself to be the first one to introduce sports bike to Indian roads. ****************************************************************** I felt good about Yamaha R15 with the front looks. But what I didn't like is 1. Rear view is simply ackward.....it's just like a normal bike (People won't feel that it's a sport's bike worth 1.1 L). It got the nasty looks from behind... Why can't they mimic R1 or R6 or anyother looks. Excuse me, if u r saying it won't suit for India with two people sitting. Still the Rear shape could have been retained. 2. Types ..... Though mileage is a factor. I think these tyres are slow slim like bicycle tyres. For such kind of looks from Front and side , this machin should have broader tyres. That's the cool factor for any sports (looking) bikes. 3. Exhaust pump Because of the above three factors (Price 1.1 L may not be a factor for bikes with Sports looks) I stepped back from buying R15. Desperately waiting if any decent sports look bikes to hit Indian roads early 2009 !
Yeah..a bit dissappointed with rear view and tyre and also to some extent and would step back from bying this machine....Hope yamaha changes perfects these flaws and satisfy indian byke thirsters.... I would wait nd go for this else .. my option is a second hand yamaha RX 135..

i was confused as to which bike i should buy between Pulsar 220cc and Yahama 150cc. i was comparing both the bikes and i still could not decide. both are superb. but what i like most is the body style of Yahama R15. my dream is Yahama R1 but i came to learn that the price is too expensive & cannot afford. so i have to go with Yahama R15.

But I like u 2 suggest as a bike lover please try 2 give R 15 little height like karizma & try 2 give broad back wheel.... If U really make it I believe Yamaha will get more rewards..... I wish IT..

Initially I was in a dilemo whether to go for Ninja (bit expensive) or R15. As I couldn't wait much more, finally I bought R15 Red colour a month ago... coolest and sexiest buy in India. I posted my comments 16 months ago as Kishore , 7 months ago as 'Wake up sid'. Truely this a super cool bike. You will really 'njoy driving at a speed more than 60 kmph. Still I would recommend the bike can undergo some modifications to rear tyre (larger), the vroom sound from the exhaust, rear looks and the CC.
